Presidents Message

Happy love month everybody!

Coming up February 8th is our block kids competition at the River Road Parks and Recreation Center. The event this year has full roster of participants! Woohoo! A quick thanks to all the people who volunteered to help with this event!

Don't forget first week of March is WIC week. I just wanted to remind everybody that on Monday March 2nd we will be a participant in Food for Lane County, Wednesday the 4th, Bags of Love and Friday will be a get together at Claim 52! We will need volunteers for both Monday and Wednesday events.

Now last, but not least, I am so excited about the Oregon Coast Retreat coming up on February 28th. Don't forget to turn in your registrations! Additional information in the full newsletter. -Kay Ewalt


Chapter News

Our January meeting was at Wildish Companies hosted by Myranda Kelly and Deanna Lashway. They provided a wonderful dinner and yummy deserts. Thank you Myranda and Deanna for your hospitality!

At the meeting we discussed Block Kids and the upcoming NAWIC meeting. February is a fun night of BUNCO and it will be a membership drive. March meeting will be a tour the new Civic Stadium. In April we are working on having a presentation on the new Riverwalk project.

March 1st‐7th is Women in Construction Week and we will be doing several activities, Food for Lane County and Bags of Love. March 8th is International Women’s Day. It is held annually to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as United Nation's Day for women’s rights and international peace.

Karen Jones and Kim McBride will be having a work day during the first week in March for the Junction City Habitat for Humanity house in Harrisburg that the NAWIC ladies worked on last summer. They will be asking for help from those ladies to help put up the siding. Stay tuned for more information. They are also planning to participate this summer in the Women’s Build sponsored by Lowe’s. Lowe’s will again be giving Habitat a $5000 grant.

In April Cory Letts is looking at doing a welding class to raise scholarship funds for the students at the Welding school in Springfield. She needs at least 10 committed to the class to be able to proceed. a horse racing fundraiser.

Our chapter is hosting the Pacific NW Fall Conference October 2020. We need members to volunteer to be on the committee.The Eugene chapter has a lot of activities planned for this year. Stayed tuned for more information.
